6:53pm : Just woke up. Seems that the situation has calmed down. No reports on the silat masters being deployed. I guess that's it for today. Let's see what happens the next few days and the next year... and 1,401 was reported to be detained
4:42pm : Things have slowed down. Good thing there's not much bloodshed among the groups. Right now all the police did was made everyone their enemy. I'm gonna take a nap. Let's see what happens an hour or two later.
4:02pm : It seems that now the BERSIH peeps are trying to make their way to Istana Negara.... Don't know how much damage this incident has caused to our economy. How badly our image has been shown to the world. And no, this isn't the fault of BERSIH. This could've been avoided if a stadium was provided. All these needless conflicts.
3:16pm : 670 arrested. Ambiga arrested. Khairy arrested. Ibrahim grounded at home by his wife.
2:10pm : Bersih rally goers reported to be in the 10k region. Patriot in the 300s.
Bersih consists of all races. Patriot... just one.
Overseas there are students with the BERSIH people... though someone posted a what-if situation.
"STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP REVOKED FOR SUPPORTING MOVEMENT FOR FAIR AND CLEAN ELECTION FOR THE GREATER BENEFIT OF THE COUNTRY"
1:57pm : Bersih protesters arrested, Anti-Bersih allowed to rally? T-minus 3 minutes til 2pm.
And no... this is not a 13 May 1969 where it was based on race. This is for human rights.
1:20pm : 514 arrested... 4000 protesters still on the street with their numbers growing.
12:50pm : I just read news that our PM is doing the George W. Bush thing during 9/11... Our PM seems to feel that attending other events are more important than this uprising in KL. Either he has full trust with the police or he's just evading things. Only he knows...
12:40pm : It has begun. Tear gas fired to about 2000 protesters, media and pedestrians. No news on the whereabouts of the silat practitioners
12:30pm : Funny how pictures and reports coming in showing people protesting in Melbourne Australia without any restrictions as compared to a city wide blockage in Malaysia...
11am : Just thinking that all these equipments (trucks/tear gas) are finally being used instead of collecting dust and rust in the storage. Would they still work? And reading on.... people are reporting that the police are arresting random pedestrians in KL. Be it with a yellow shirt or not.
Oh, the police has also set up barbed wire fences around Stadium Merdeka it seems.
“We are very concerned about the various measures that are being taken by the authorities to restrict freedom of expression in Malaysia, including preventive detention, and the Government’s decision to reportedly declare Bersih an unlawful organization,” said Mr. Colville.
Could've handled it better as I've said... Didn't have to put so much negative attention on our country.
And now for some conspiracy theory. Why was a stadium denied? So that the BERSIH people will rally as planned which defies the Yang di-pertuan Agong's orders/wishes. That way those who march on that day can be charged for 'treason?' .
Today... it might be a new page in the history books of Malaysia.
