Papa Johns disappointment

Last week I found out there's a Papa Johns' Pizza Restaurant in Alpha Angle in Wangsa Maju. So I went ahead to try it (around 8pm ish just after the buka puasa crowd had gone). With excitement and hoping to get my family to like it as well, I ordered a local pizza which I couldn't get in the states, "Land and sea". The image pictured in the menu shows a full pizza filled with toppings of chicken slices, tomatoes, and of course shrimp. My sister even ordered some seafood spaghetti with crab sticks and shrimp. Note, shrimp was also listed as ingredients used in the menu.

Once the order was taken, it took them some time to serve it... and when it arrived, the spaghetti was filled with extra imitation crab sticks and no shrimp. Ditto on the pizza I ordered. We asked our waitress where's the shrimp, she went back to the kitchen and asked... and told us that they were out of shrimp. I figured they should've mentioned that the moment before they took our order instead of improvising during cooking. We then called up the manager.

And this manager, is as clueless and dumbfounded by the matter started making up excuses instead of apologizing for the error. Called him, asked him, he went back, came back and said that the menu given to us was last year's menu and that the shrimp was removed from all Papa John's dishes as their management deemed the shrimps used are not on par with Papa John's quality. If you want to make an excuse, make sure it matches up with what the waitress just said.

She (waitress) said "We are out of shrimp"
He (manager) said "We no longer use shrimp and that the menu is outdated"

If the menu is outdated, UPDATE IT! You said that it was a year ago... it's AUGUST! 8 MONTHS to update the damn menu. Even so, the staff couldn't be bothered to notify the customers that shrimp is no longer on the menu.

Huge, huge disappointment... The pizza served there wasn't really 'Papa John's quality' either. I've tasted better at Berjaya Times Square and according to some, the one at Sunway Pyramid is way better too.

At the end, they still refused to apologize until threatened that we'll report them. The manager then gave us a feedback card form. We went on with our meal and when asked for the bill, they gave us an employee discount... I think it was 10-15% off our bill and an apology letter with vouchers inside. As we left, I filled up the form and returned it to them but I get the feeling that it will be thrown away/ discarded....

Sigh... I was gonna go there and was so happy that there's a Papa Johns nearby. Willing to go there often to eat but the staff and service there was just horrid. The pizza served there wasn't really good either... Won't be going back to that branch in a long long long long time.
