Think of a country which has a finite amount of people let's say 100 and a finite amount of wealth.
In this country you'd have the extremely rich, rich, middle class and poor.
With this finite wealth distributed among these groups, in a typical country the distribution will be that of a pyramid with the extremely rich at the top and the poor at the bottom.
In this country, for the rich to stay rich or get richer, someone has to be poorer or stay poorer. Even if things were to be evened out, since there is a finite amount of wealth, that amount might not be able to sustain the lives of everyone in the country hence if things were to even out, everyone in the country could be poor/ low income earners.
So how does one increase their wealth? The same pyramid can be seen if you look at every countries as a whole. One country gets richer while another suffers. If everyone is equal it'll just be like the country above. No developments or slower developments for better improvements of life as there won't be enough funds for it.
It's how things work as it is and unless someone figures out a way for everyone to be able to live equally without debt, the rich will get richer and the poor stay poor unless they win the powerball(lottery) if they could even afford a ticket.
